London-born goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has received approval to represent Nigeria at international level after FIFA accepted his nationality switch. The 24-year-old shot stopper, who previously played for England's youth teams (U15-U18), has been cleared to join the Super Eagles, Nigeria's national team.
Born to Nigerian parents on September 9, 2001, Okonkwo had a promising youth career with Arsenal, made his senior debut for the Gunners in 2021. He has since gained experience playing for Crewe Alexandra, Sturm Graz, and currently Wrexham, where he is a key player in the Championship.
Okonkwo's switch was permitted under FIFA regulations, allowing him to represent Nigeria through his parental heritage. He is now eligible for selection by the Nigeria Football Federation, ending months of anticipation for the talented goalkeeper.
