NDPC Probes Remita, Sterling Bank Over Alleged Data Breach

  T he Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) has initiated an investigation into a suspected data breach involving Remita Payment Services Ltd, Sterling Bank, and other entities. According to a statement released on Sunday, April 5, 2026, the Commission served a Notice of Investigation on the involved parties on April 1, marking the beginning of a thorough inquiry. The probe focuses on determining the extent of the incident, categories of personal data affected, and potential risks to data subjects. The Commission's Head of Legal, Enforcement, and Regulations, Babatunde Bamigboye, confirmed that relevant parties are cooperating and providing necessary information. JAMB Debunks Fake Postponement Claim, As UTME Will Hold As Planned

O n Saturday, March 4th, 2026, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) debunked a circulating statement that the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) has been postponed, labelling it "false and malicious". The board, in the released statement, urged candidates to ignore the fake update, assuring that all 2026 UTME activities are going ahead as scheduled. "The public, especially candidates, should know the press release is fake and didn't come from us. Please ignore it. All 2026 UTME activities continue as planned," the statement reads. This follows after there were technical issues during the 2026 UTME Mock exam on March 28 at some Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres.
