S even people kidnapped in Ogun State have been rescued alive. The operation was carried out in the early hours of Thursday, August 6, 2026, by a joint team of security agencies.   Five of the victims are students of Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Saapade.   W ith just 10 days to the Osun governorship election, the Nigeria Police Force has announced the deployment of 15,000 officers to secure the state and deter any attempt to undermine the vote. The Commissioner of Police in charge of election security, CP Samuel Erale Etaifo, made the announcement on Wednesday during a briefing with journalists and Divisional Police Officers at the Police Officers’ Mess in Osogbo.   O peratives of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command have detained a woman identified as Lorretta Anoh in connection with the death of 36-year-old Chikoka Emeka Henry at his residence in Osongama Estate, Uyo. The case first surfaced on X and Facebook on Tuesday and quickly drew reactions online. The posts shared by different accounts alleged that Henry was found in his apartment with a deep injury to the head. The same reports claim Anoh was the last person seen entering the apartment on Tuesday.
