C ommercial motorcycle riders in Abia State have a new rule to follow from Monday, June 22, 2026.   Governor Alex Otti has ordered a full stop to okada operations in the main city areas of Umuahia, Aba, and Ohafia. The state government announced this on Sunday through the Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu. According to Kanu, the ban covers all commercial motorcycle services within the metropolitan zones of the three cities. It is part of steps the Otti administration is taking to improve security, protect residents, control traffic, and create a better transport system. “The prohibition of commercial motorcycle operations within the metropolitan areas of Umuahia, Aba and Ohafia takes effect from Monday, June 22, 2026,” the statement said.
