I f you travel regularly between Anambra and Delta states, get ready for a change in your route from next week. The Federal Government has announced that the First Niger Bridge in Onitsha will be closed to all vehicles for two weeks to allow urgent repair work. In a statement released on Friday and signed by the Acting Federal Controller of Works in Anambra, Timothy Emenike, the Federal Ministry of Works said the closure will start on Monday, September 7, 2026 and end on Monday, September 21, 2026. According to the ministry, engineers who inspected the bridge found that the road surface has worn out and some parts have been damaged by vandals. T he House of Representatives committee investigating the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council says former Chief of Staff Femi Gbajabiamila will only be invited if the facts force its hand. Committee Chairman Hon. Yusuf Gagdi disclosed this on Tuesday during an appearance on Channels TV’s Politics Today, as reported by Tribune Online. Gagdi made it clear the probe is not about going after individuals. For the panel, the bigger concern is how PFIPC, which he said appears to have no solid legal foundation, found its way into government operations and budget lines. “Our job is not tied to any name,” he said. “The real question is how this council entered the system in the first place.   E ducation Minister Dr. Tunji Alausa says Nigeria’s exam system has a serious problem, and parents, teachers and students all need to pay attention. Speaking on Thursday at a meeting with the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools and other education players, Alausa made a shocking claim. According to Punch Newspaper , he said NECO question papers were once sold for as little as N3,000 before students even entered the exam hall. He called the level of cheating “mind-boggling” and said Nigeria had tolerated it for too many years. “It is painful,” he said. “Before the Minister of State and I came on board, exam fraud and paper leaks were treated as normal.
