The Lagos State Government has announced temporary road closures in preparation for the inaugural Fanti Carnival, scheduled to take place on Monday, 6th April 2026, at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos Island.
The event, which aims to showcase Nigeria's rich cultural heritage, follows a successful Fanti Carnival Summit held on Thursday, 2nd April 2026, at Glover Memorial Hall, Lagos Island. The summit brought together prominent artists, cultural icons, and thought leaders to discuss the country's diverse cultural landscape and explore opportunities for investment, trade collaboration, and cultural exchange.
The affected roads to be cordoned off from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event include: King George V Road at the junction by Mobil Filling Station, Onikan Roundabout, inbound to TBS, Flagstaff House, inbound to TBS,Outer Marina by State House, inbound to TBS, Campbell Street by the Old Defence Building, Catholic Mission Street by St. Nicholas Church
Motorists and residents are advised to plan their movements accordingly and use alternative routes during this period. The State Government apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciates the public's cooperation.
The Fanti Carnival promises to be a celebration of Nigeria's vibrant culture, with interactive sessions and performances showcasing the country's diverse cultural landscape.
