The Nigerian government has released a list of 48 individuals and groups involved in financing terrorist activities in the country. This list was published by the Nigeria Sanctions Committee (NIGSAC) just a day after the Attorney General's office concluded the ninth phase of mass trials for over 500 people linked to Boko Haram, securing 386 convictions.
The list includes three groups already banned as terrorist organizations: Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Ansaru, and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP). Notable individuals on the list include Simon Ekpa, self-styled Prime Minister of Biafra, who was convicted in Finland for terrorism-related charges, and Tukur Mamu, an alleged negotiator for the Abuja-Kaduna train kidnapping, who is facing terrorism charges.
The government aims to send a strong message to those involved in terrorism and its financing, stating there's no space for them in Nigeria. The list also includes various individuals and groups accused of providing financial support to terrorist organizations.
