A tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, claiming the lives of four persons and leaving eight others injured.
According to reports from the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Ogun State Command, the accident involved a commercial Toyota Hiace bus (AGL 789 YL), and happened at approximately 1:30 a.m. in front of Christopher University.
The crash, which involved 13 people (11 adult males and two adult females), was attributed to a burst tyre and speed violation, causing the driver to lose control of the vehicle.
FRSC rescue teams from the Mowe Unit Command swiftly arrived at the scene and initiated rescue operations. The injured were rushed to Famobis Hospital for treatment, while the deceased were taken to the Idera morgue.
The Ogun State Sector Commander, Mr. Akinwunmi Fasakin, has expressed condolences to the families of the victims. The FRSC has urged motorists to adhere to speed limits and ensure their vehicles are roadworthy before embarking on journeys.
The vehicle and passengers' belongings have been handed over to the Motor Traffic Division (MTD) of the Redeemed Police Station for further handling.
