The Lagos State Police Command has arrested two men over the alleged kidnap and killing of 17 year old Thompson Adams, who sat for the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination. According to Punch Newspaper report. the incident happened in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
Lagos Commissioner of Police, Fatai Tijani, gave details of the arrest on Wednesday while briefing journalists at the command headquarters in Ikeja.
Tijani said the suspects, Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ekwen Ogenata, 21, were arrested around 8 p.m. on Monday after the police received credible intelligence.
It was reported that Thompson Adams was returning from an exam hall on Wednesday, April 22, when he was attacked. Police investigations showed the suspects were Adams’ former secondary schoolmates. They tricked him into following them to their apartment and killed him there.
“On April 27, 2026, at about 20.00 hours, our officers acted on credible intelligence and arrested the suspects at Lucky Fibre, Ikorodu, Lagos,” Tijani said. “They are Elijah Emmanuel, 23, and Tony Ekwen Ogenata, 21. Our findings link them to the kidnap and brutal murder of Thompson Adams, 17, on April 22, 2026. The two suspects went out with Adams, their schoolmate, and murdered him during the outing.”
The police boss added that the suspects put Adams’ body in a bag and dumped it somewhere in the community.
Tijani also said further interrogation linked the two men to an earlier crime. In November 2025, they allegedly kidnapped and killed a woman who was dating one of them.
“Our investigation showed they had kidnapped and murdered a female victim on November 30, 2025. She was a girlfriend to one of the suspects. They contacted her parents and demanded ransom,” he said.
The family paid ₦300,000, but the suspects still killed the woman after collecting the money.
“Even after receiving ₦300,000, they still murdered the lady,” Tijani added.
He said the suspects will be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.
