The 18th Headies Awards has been rescheduled. The new dates are Saturday, April 10, and Sunday, April 11, 2027, in Toronto, Canada.

The organisers announced the change on Saturday in a post on the official Instagram page of The Headies. The post carried the words "New Dates Announced" and urged fans to save the date.

In the caption, the organisers said the road to the 18th Headies continues. They explained that they are expanding the programme in Nigeria and Canada ahead of the Toronto finale. No reason was given for moving the dates.

According to them Headies activities will still go on during the original event period. They did not say what those activities will be, but promised programme details through their official channels.

They also addressed guests who had already made plans. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience," the caption said, as the organisers thanked supporters for their patience and promised further updates and guest information on the same page.

Recall, Toronto plan was first announced in Lagos on June 15 at an event called "The Big Announcement," held at Eko Hotels and Suites. Entertainment figures, government representatives and industry stakeholders were in attendance.

Speaking at the event, the Headies founder, Ayo Animashaun, said the move abroad was meant to grow the awards into a global platform. "We're not leaving Nigeria behind," he said, adding that fans at home would follow the ceremony through a live watch party linking Lagos and Toronto. Organisers also announced the first-ever Headies Trade and Investment Summit, meant to bring the entertainment industry together with investors, businesses and policymakers.

Mr Animashaun also defended taking the show abroad again. He said the awards need sponsors to survive, and asked what the alternative would be.

It will not be the first time The Headies has left home. The 15th and 16th editions were held in Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States, before the awards returned to Nigeria for the 17th edition.

For now, the date is the main fact. The Toronto finale will hold on April 10 and 11, 2027. Guests who have already booked flights or hotels are advised to check with their service providers and follow The Headies' official pages for updates.
