A 30-year-old teacher in Kogi State has died days after she was allegedly beaten at her school by a parent who objected to her disciplining a pupil, with police now investigating it as a homicide case. P anic broke out in Alakija yesterday when a three-storey shopping plaza suddenly collapsed, killing 8 people and leaving 26 others alive, authorities said. The bill scaled through after senators studied the report from the Committee on the Review of the Constitution, led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin. Senate President Godswill Akpabio called for a vote by raising of hands and more than two-thirds of the lawmakers backed it. On the day of the debate, 87 senators were present, which is more than the 73 required to pass a change to the constitution. S hock and grief swept through Owode-Egba on Sunday after police found a former Ogun State Television presenter and her security guard dead in her home.   The victims were identified as Kitan Oyesiku, a retired OGTV broadcaster, and her guard. Their bodies were discovered at Iyana Agodo Village after a resident alerted police to strange activity around the house.   Ogun State Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, said officers who responded found the guard’s body at his post and Oyesiku’s body inside her apartment. A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the hanging of 37-year-old Zakaria Garba for his part in the 2014 bombing at Nyanya motor park that claimed more than 70 lives and injured many others. Justice James Omotsoho delivered the sentence on Friday during a special mass trial for terrorism suspects. The News Agency of Nigeria reported that the judge also gave Garba life imprisonment on one charge and 35 years in prison each on two other charges. Garba admitted to all five counts brought against him by the Attorney-General of the Federation.
