The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a middle-aged woman, Oluwasola Victoria Adebayo, who collapsed on Monday at a JAMB examination centre in Ilara-Mokin, Ifedore Local Government Area.
Mrs Adebayo slumped while accompanying her daughter to write the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
Police spokesperson Jimoh Abayomi disclosed the incident in a short statement issued in Akure. He said the Command received a report of the death and immediately deployed officers to the examination centre in Ilara-Mokin.
According to Abayomi, Mrs Adebayo was waiting with her daughter when she suddenly collapsed.
The police added that the remains of the deceased have been released to her son, Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself at the scene as an officer of the Nigeria Legion, Akure.
“The family of the deceased has since been contacted and upon thorough checks, the remains have been released to one Mr Apapa Olamilekan, who identified himself as her son and an officer of the Nigeria Legion, Akure,” Abayomi said.
The Command extended condolences to the family of the deceased and urged members of the public to remain calm.
